While there is so much to love about Bridgerton: the costumes, the cast, the drama, let’s be real, we (and 82 million others) are tuning in to steal the stage.
We assume that all of these kisses, while fun, can lead to severe chapped lips. This is why it is so important that the actors are armed with a great balm so that their lips are ready for it all. The show’s hairstyle and makeup designer, Mark Pilcher, recently revealed that he relied on Dr. Pawpaw’s versatile soothing balm, created by a make-up artist, for virtually all men on set.
According to him, Dr. Pawpaw has been a staple in most of our cast bags, even men’s ones. This provided everyone with protection from the elements when we were shooting in winter and at night. It was great to use in this historical drama, as we want most of the actors to look natural and fresh and have beautiful lips.
This natural look was key for Linda Pearce, another makeup artist and hairdresser on the show. While hair at the time looked extravagant (and contained a ton of hidden meanings), visible makeup, with the exception of delicate cheeks, not only went out of style, but also disliked.
We used Dr. Pawpaw Soothing Balm on Phoebe Dinevor, who played Daphne Bridgerton, to achieve a natural look, Pierce said. We often mixed it with a lip liner or lip stain, and sometimes we applied it ourselves. It is a fantastic product that keeps lips hydrated and radiant. (By the way, this lip stain she means is Pixi’s Sheer Cheek, which she also used on Daphne’s cheeks.)
Balm has been a staple in makeup kits for many years for its soothing properties and thick texture. It is also very versatile: in addition to moisturizing the lips, it can be used to treat cuticles, folds, eyebrows, eyelashes and even as a highlighter. The best part? It’s only $ 8, so you can use the same lip balm as the diamond of the season without breaking the bank.
