ICarly’s Jennette McCurdy confirms she quit acting and confesses that she is ashamed of her past job-sanewnetworks
iCarly without Sam? Jennette McCurdy said she quit filming the recent Empty Inside podcast. The former child star also told guest Anna Faris that she was ashamed of her past job.
Sticking up! The stars who almost gave up acting
I quit a few years ago because I initially didn’t want to do it, said the Nickelodeon alumnus. I am so ashamed of my past roles. I am in many respects indignant with my career. I feel so dissatisfied with the roles I have played, and it seemed to me that this was the most stupid and awkward thing to do.
McCurdy co-starred with Miranda Cosgrove on the hit Nickelodeon iCarly, which ran for six seasons from 2007 to 2012 before getting her own spin-off, Sam & Cat, with Ariana Grande. She then starred on the Netflix series Between before embarking on a short career in country music.
I was on the show between 13 and 21 and by 15 I was embarrassed, McCurdy told the 44-year-old scary movie actress. My friends at 15 weren’t like ‘Oh cool you.’ remember this Nickelodeon show. It was embarrassing. I suppose if you are proud of your roles, then this is a completely different experience.
With her death, a lot of ideas for my life died, and it was her own path, undoubtedly difficult, said the former actress. She is now trying her hand at writing and directing and said the work is going great. In December 2020, it was announced that the iCarly reboot at Paramount + was approaching. While much of the original cast is set to return, McCurdy is not on the list.
The House Bunny star did ask McCurdy if there was anything that would make her return to acting, and the writer pointed out that she returned in 2020 for her one woman show, I’m glad my mom died. I really didn’t want to, McCurdy said. This show will be the brightest.
